Welcome to Congenital Harmony. This is not a parental blog; this is a safe space for all. It is a survival journal for the select few. Here, we aim to offer solace, support, and understanding amidst the chaos and complexity of life’s journey of raising neurodivergent, disabled, or just not “normal” children or loved ones.
In this sanctuary, you will find stories of resilience, wisdom, and shared experiences that transcend the ordinary. Join us as we navigate the path together, embracing harmony and strength.
I am Nicole, many times only known as “Katelynn’s Mom.” As a person, I am nothing special to society, but everything to my daughter. Very quickly I learned the repetitive I ought to be grateful-
– Grateful for a diagnosis that shattered me,
– Grateful for systems that scrutinize but do not support,
– Grateful for inclusion that looks more like isolation.
A few centuries ago children like mine were institutionalized; Today we live in a progressive time where we are sent home to raise these like-situational children at home, alone, but told there is a plethora of support. Here, I share the unspoken:
– Grief beneath the gratitude,
– Rage behind the paperwork,
– Love that does not look like anyone else’s,
– Healing that has no timeline.
If you’ve ever felt broken by a diagnosis, judged for not smiling through it, or lost in systems that don’t see your child or you – this space is for you. We are not saints. We are not stories of triumph. We are living messy, exhausted, and brilliant parenting in our own way.
Please: Come as you are, Stay as long as you need, and No expectations or timelines here.
Read aloud: I matter too!
